Marvel enthusiasts have a reason to cheer with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and actor Paul Walter Hauser is stoking the flames with outrageous predictions. Based on Hauser, this movie might be the start of the MCU’s next golden age, just like Guardians of the Galaxy and Black Panther were back in the day.

“So I think our film, Fantastic Four: First Steps, to me, speaking only from my opinion, all that I experienced and was a part of, all that I felt being in the company of the creatives on the movie, I feel we are the Marvel film of the year,” Hauser recently told TheDirect. “I feel we are the ones to watch.”

High Expectations and Comparisons to MCU Classics

With the MCU facing issues with staying at the same level of success as it once was, both fans and critics want to know if The Fantastic Four will help re-stir interest in Marvel’s ever-growing universe. As the movie starts Phase Six of the MCU, a lot is riding on it, and its success will determine the future of the franchise.

The journey to this reboot has not been smooth. Following Josh Trank’s doomed 2015 effort to resurrect The Fantastic Four for 20th Century Fox, the venture hung in limbo. Nevertheless, after Disney acquired Fox in 2019, Marvel Studios stepped in and took over the project, making the film official later that same year. Fantastic Four: First Steps has had several creative upheavals before WandaVision director Matt Shakman finally picked up the project.

The casting has also created a lot of buzz, with Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. They are supported by Hauser, John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Natasha Lyonne, Sarah Niles and Ralph Ineson, who will be playing the cosmic villain Galactus.

The Long Road to the MCU

Although Hauser’s enthusiasm does imply Marvel is working on something special, he did also accept that not every movie can be an assured winner. “None of us are 100%. None of us hit the mark every time,” he confessed. If, though, his assurance is justified, then The Fantastic Four: First Steps may provide the fresh start Marvel so needs.

Fans won’t have to wait long to see if all the hype is worth it—The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be hitting theaters on July 25, 2025, readying their appearance in Avengers: Doomsday.
