half blue moon black sky night photography

Remember all the buzz about the super blue blood moon in January? It was a striking sight and a pretty significant event in our heavens.

It was the product of three different phenomena:  a supermoon, a blue moon, and a blood moon.

Now sky-gazers are in for a lunar treat yet again as a blue moon will be spotted in the skies over the weekend.

WHAT IS A BLUE MOON?

Of course, blue moons are not actually blue nor they appear any different from any other full moon in the sky.

The term is commonly used to describe a second full moon in a month. In March, the first full moon occurred on the night of March 1.

And now the second full moon is expected to rise tomorrow on Saturday i.e. 31st March.

The celestial event will be all the more spectacular as it is the last Blue Moon to rise occur until 2020.
