As cricket fans gear up for another exciting white-ball showdown, there’s a cloud of uncertainty looming over the Bangladesh cricket team’s scheduled tour of Pakistan.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has made it clear — the final green signal for this tour isn’t in their hands just yet. It all hinges on one crucial thing: government clearance.
First, Off to the UAE
Before we get into the Pakistan leg, here’s what’s confirmed: The Bangladesh team has flown out to the UAE, where they’re set to face off in two T20Is in Sharjah on May 17 and 19.
These matches serve as a warm-up and perhaps a buffer, giving the board a bit more time to sort things out regarding the bigger tour that follows.

Bangladesh-Pakistan Series in Limbo
The much-talked-about five-match T20I series between Pakistan and Bangladesh was originally set to begin on May 25 and run through June 3.
However, the BCB has yet to officially confirm their participation. Why? Because they’re waiting for clearance from the government of Bangladesh before taking any further steps, including talking to the players.
BCB President Faruque Ahmed offered some insights:
“We’ve already written to the National Sports Council (NSC) to take it to the Ministry. I’ve even spoken directly to the sports advisor multiple times in recent days.”
He further emphasized that security concerns among some players have also been noted, but no discussions will happen with the squad until a formal go-ahead comes from the top.

Let’s be honest — touring Pakistan still brings up security conversations, even though several teams have recently visited without incident.
Faruque admitted the situation is “very sensitive” and said: “We can’t take this decision alone. Once we get the government’s decision, we’ll speak to the players and all stakeholders involved. There are also logistical details like venues to finalize.”
His remarks reflect the board’s cautious approach, especially when player safety is on the line.
PSL Clashes and Schedule Tweaks
To add another twist, there’s a scheduling clash as well. The Pakistan Super League (PSL) 10 is now set to conclude on May 25, the same day the Bangladesh series was originally supposed to begin.
In response, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stepped in with a revised itinerary, sent to the BCB on May 13.
Here’s what’s proposed:
- Faisalabad will host the first three T20Is on May 27, 29, and June 1
- The final two matches will shift to Lahore, scheduled for June 3 and 5
