Australian Test spinner Nathan Lyon recently praised former Pakistan captain Babar Azam highly, hailing him as ‘the best batter in the world.’
Lyon, who has faced Babar Azam numerous times, lauded the former Pakistan skipper for being both a delight to play against and an imposing challenge for bowlers.
“Babar Azam has been a pleasure to play against, but he’s also been a massive challenge,” Lyon expressed. “He’s one of the best batters globally, especially when it comes to facing spin. He’s a class player and performs exceptionally well against all kinds of bowling,” he added.
The 36-year-old Australian highlighted the impending challenge as his team gears up to encounter the Men in Green.
“They’ve got some superstars in their squad, and for me, he’s the top player in the Pakistan team. He showcased his skills here last time, so it’s definitely going to be a tough test for us,” Lyon acknowledged.
Expressing his excitement for the forthcoming Test matches, Lyon eagerly anticipates playing at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
“My enthusiasm for playing Test matches is at an all-time high,” he said. “I’m genuinely thrilled. Competing in Perth at Optus Stadium is always a challenge. Facing Pakistan will be an exhilarating battle,” Lyon concluded.
