Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam is in the form of his during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 9 and continued to show his batting prowess in Qualifier 1 against Multan Sultans.
The right-handed batter played a scratchy 46-run knock from 42 deliveries in a losing cause as Multan Sultans progressed to the final of PSL 9.
However, Babar Azam achieved two significant milestones during his stay on the crease and etched his name in the annals of PSL history.
500 Runs in a Single PSL Edition For Third Time
Babar Azam achieved a remarkable feat during the Qualifier 1 clash at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium. During his 42-ball innings, he crossed the coveted 500-run mark in the ongoing PSL 9.
This was his third instance of amassing over 500 runs in a single edition of the PSL as he scored 554 runs in 2021 and 522 runs in 2023.
Babar Azam joined Multan Sultans skipper Mohammad Rizwan, who is the only other batter to achieve this feat. Rizwan amassed 500 runs in 2021, followed by 546 runs in 2022 and 550 runs in 2023.
Babar Azam Completes 1000 Runs in 2024 Season
Babar became the first batter to surpass the monumental 1000-run mark in the 2024 season with a masterful display of batting prowess.
Surpassing the coveted 1000-run milestone in the same match against Multan Sultans, Babar’s journey to cricketing greatness was marked by an unwavering commitment to excellence.
He reached the milestone in 21 matches with a strike rate exceeding 135, which shows that his impact on the game is nothing short of extraordinary.
