Controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan face charges in the UK for rape, assault and human trafficking, as prosecutors confirmed on Wednesday. The Crown Prosecution Service approved the charges in January 2024, but they were only made public recently.
Andrew, 38, faces ten criminal charges in the UK, including rape, bodily harm, trafficking, and controlling prostitution related to three women. His brother Tristan, 36, faces eleven similar charges involving one woman.
Prosecutors announced, โThe UK issued a European arrest warrant in 2024, and the Romanian courts approved the extradition of Andrew and Tristan Tate.โ However, they must first resolve ongoing cases in Romania before extradition can happen.
Romanian authorities have charged the Tate brothers with additional offenses, such as trafficking minors, engaging in sexual activities with a minor, and money laundering. Both brothers, who hold dual UK and US citizenship, deny all the charges.
The brothers traveled to Florida in February, marking their first trip abroad since their 2022 arrest in Romania. Romanian officials accuse Andrew, Tristan, and two women of forming a criminal group in 2021 to sexually exploit victims.
In the UK, Andrew faces a civil lawsuit from four British women who accuse him of rape and coercive control.
Andrew Tate, who previously ran a webcam business in the UK, gained public attention in 2016 when he appeared on the reality show “Big Brother.“ He was removed from the show after a controversial video surfaced.
Tate later shifted to social media, where he shares his extreme views on masculinity. He has a large following on X (formerly Twitter), where he often uses offensive and discriminatory language to promote his beliefs.
