Allegations of Sexual Misconduct Surfaces at One of Karachi's Biggest Coaching Centres

A couple of years ago, when I was taking my first O’ Levels exams—Islamiat and Pakistan Studies—I, like many other students, was anxious about how my first-ever CAIEs would turn out. I wanted to score A*and As and nothing less than that. It was perhaps that’s why I thought whatever I studied at school wasn’t enough, and hence I joined a coaching centre. Don’t get me wrong, the concept of coaching centres was booming at the time, with a few teachers leading the way. One of such teachers was Sir Khurram Hussain, a renowned Islamiat teacher known for his passion for the subject and his energetic way of teaching. So I found my way to his class, and it’s safe to say that I had never seen a teacher so incredibly passionate about his subject.

It was perhaps this passion and dedication to his work that Sir Khurram Hussain, popularly known as SKH, opened various institutions in such a short period of time. From SKH Solutions to Veritas School System, SKH built an empire solely based on the trust his students had in him.

Alleged Misconduct

Fast forward to May 4th, a video was posted by the Instagram page @karachi.educational.safety—a compilation of anonymous confessions making serious allegations against SKH Solutions, specifically targeting Khurram Hussain’s long-time assistant, Abdul Hai. According to the post, Abdul Hai, who has worked closely with SKH for several years, has been accused of sexually harassing female students. The allegations include soliciting intimate photos, engaging in inappropriate conversations with girls as young as 15 or 16, and making false promises of marriage. The video featured multiple anonymous accounts from young women who claim to have experienced or witnessed his predatory behaviour.

What fueled even greater controversy were claims that SKH was aware of the misconduct all along, making him complicit in the situation. One of the anonymous confessions alleged that SKH ignored student complaints, turning a blind eye to incidents happening right under his nose.

SKH Takes Legal Actions

In response to the allegations, SKH Solutions released an official statement on its social media platforms reaffirming its commitment to student safety. The post stated that the institute is taking the claims seriously and has initiated swift action to address the situation, with the aim of preventing any such incidents in the future. It also expressed gratitude to the students who came forward, acknowledging their courage in sharing their personal experiences.

This was revealed in an Instagram story posted by SKH Solutions. In the same story, it was also made clear that the authorities are collecting and preserving evidence so that they can take proper legal action.

On top of that, SKH Solutions has ensured that they are reviewing their internal systems and policies, and making sure that there is transparency across all campuses.

The Bigger Question: Are Our Children Safe?

The incident has highlighted one thing in particular: we entrust schools, colleges, and universities with the safety and well-being of our children—those we love most—yet predators can exist within these very spaces too.

So, are our children really safe?

That’s a question most parents may find themselves asking after reading this article. While the purpose was never to create panic or anxiety but rather to inform and create awareness, we understand if this has stirred strong emotions. The truth is, you can’t stop your children from growing, exploring, and becoming part of new environments, but what you can do is teach them how to recognise harmful behaviour and create a safe space where they feel comfortable coming to you when something doesn’t feel right.

Most importantly, it’s high time we call out people despite how famous or influential they are. Remember, silence only favours the predator, not the victim.
