The late actor Irfan Khan was a veteran figure in Bollywood. Now, given the track record of “star kid superiority,” one might assume that his son, Babil Khan, will also be treated the same. However, a recent viral Instagram story from Babil (now deleted) showed that this isn’t the case at all. The emotional video of Babil Khan, drunk and crying, went viral on Sunday, 4th May 2025 and left fans concerned about the actor’s mental health.
The Concerning Crying Video
The havoc started when Babil recorded an Instagram story in which he called Bollywood ‘fake.’ In the video, the young actor could be seen in an overwhelmingly emotional state. In this same video, he mentioned actors like Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, and singer Arijit Singh.

The actor qouted, “What I mean to say is that I just want you guys to know that there are people like Shanaya Kapoor, Ananya Panday, Arjun Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav and Arijit Singh. There are so many more names. Bollywood is so f*****. Bollywood is so screwed.”
This immediately caught the attention of the masses as it seemed like Babil was calling these celebrities out on something. The immediate impression was that these celebrities led to this state of the actor.
Almost immediately, the actor deleted the video and has now deleted his account too, adding more to the speculation.
Babil Khan’s Family Releases Statement
However, soon after the incident happened, Babil’s family immediately rushed to clear the mass. As of now, the family has issued an official statement regarding this matter. The statement clarified Babil Khan’s stance and acknowledged that the actor is going through “difficult days.” It also reassured fans that he is “safe and will be feeling better soon.” Regarding the names mentioned, according to the statement, Babil has been misunderstood and he was just acknowledging his peers.

The statement read: “Over the past few years, Babil Khan has earned immense love and appreciation for his work, as well as for his openness about his mental health journey. Like anyone else, Babil is allowed to have difficult days — and this was one of them. We want to reassure all his well-wishers that he is safe and will be feeling better soon.
That said, a video of Babil has been widely misinterpreted and taken out of context.
In the clip, Babil was sincerely acknowledging a few of his peers whom he believes are making meaningful contributions to the evolving landscape of Indian cinema. His mention of artists like Ananya Panday, Shanaya Kapoor, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Raghav Juyal, Adarsh Gourav, Arjun Kapoor, and Arijit Singh came from a place of genuine admiration — for their authenticity, passion, and efforts to restore credibility and heart in the industry. We respectfully urge media publications and the public to consider the full context of his words rather than drawing conclusions from fragmented video clips.” –Team Babil Khan

Was Babil Really Appreciating His Peers? Didn’t Seem Like it
It seems like the family has given an absolute diplomatic statement to save the actor’s career. Perhaps to save him from the wrath that is to come.
If it was true and Babil was truly appreciating his peers, then why did he do it while crying and cursing out the industry (right after mentioning the names of the actors). And most importantly, why did he delete his account then? Many have compared Babil’s situation to that of the late Sushant Singh Rajput and hence they are not buying anything the PR team and the family is trying to say.
Surely, the actors won’t take this lightly and if they were already doing something (which it seems like they were) it will only be worsened. We must ask questions before it’s too late.
