In a breakthrough for Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts, security forces successfully neutralised 11 terrorists during intense operations in the North Waziristan district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out following precise intelligence reports that indicated the presence of militants in the region.
The ISPR reported that security forces engaged multiple locations of the ‘Khawarij,’ a term officially used by the state to describe members of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), in the general area of Datta Khel. The intelligence-based operations (IBOs), spanning over 48 hours, led to fierce and heavy exchanges of fire between the troops and the militants. As a result, 11 terrorists were effectively neutralised.
Following the gun battle, security forces recovered a significant cache of weapons and ammunition from the hideouts. The military confirmed that the deceased terrorists were criminals who had been actively involved in numerous disruptive and hostile activities in the area.
A sanitisation operation was immediately launched to search the surrounding areas and ensure no other remnants of the group remained hidden. The ISPR reiterated the armed forces’ unwavering commitment to national security, stating that counter-terrorism campaigns under the Azm-e-Istehkam framework would continue at full pace. The military emphasised its determination to completely wipe out the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism and restore permanent peace to the region.
This successful operation follows a series of recent intelligence-led crackdowns in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the state intensifies its security presence along the border regions to curb rising militant activity.
