Wayne Parnell’s All-Time ODI XI: Three Pakistan Legends Make the Cut

Former South African fast bowler, Wayne Parnell, recently revealed his all-time ODI XI, and for Pakistan fans, there’s plenty to smile about.

Three Pakistani Greats in One XI

Parnell didn’t just sneak in one Pakistani player for the sake of representation, he went big. Shahid Afridi, Wasim Akram, and Waqar Younis all made the side, a testament to their match-winning abilities and lasting impact on one-day cricket.

Afridi takes the role of the explosive all-rounder. We’re talking about a man who could turn a game on its head, whether it was smashing a 37-ball hundred or breaking partnerships with his leg-spin.

Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, meanwhile, need no introduction. Together, they formed one of cricket’s most feared fast-bowling duos, tormenting batsmen with pace, swing, and toe-crushing yorkers.

A Star-Studded Batting Line-Up

Parnell’s opening pair is as solid as it gets, Indian batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar alongside South Africa’s run machine Hashim Amla. Virat Kohli slots in at number three, a modern-day great with an unmatched appetite for runs.

The middle order is pure entertainment: AB de Villiers, who could play shots you didn’t even think existed, and Michael Hussey, Australia’s Mr Dependable, who could steady the ship or accelerate at will.

Dhoni at the Helm

Parnell’s pick for captain is MS Dhoni, the calm, unflappable leader who guided India to multiple trophies. He’s also the wicketkeeper, which means his lightning-fast stumpings and sharp game awareness are part of the package.

Meanwhile, alongside Akram and Waqar, Australian speedster Brett Lee adds raw pace to the bowling unit. Spin is handled by Muttiah Muralitharan, cricket’s highest wicket-taker, partnering with Afridi to cover all conditions.
