Karachi Kings skipper David Warner took a cheeky post-match dig at Shaheen Shah Afridi over his pitch assessment after his team pulled off a dramatic four-wicket win over arch-rivals Lahore Qalandars in the PSL 10.
Before the match, Lahore captain Shaheen Shah Afridi predicted that the pitch would assist spinners. However, after the game, Warner couldn’t resist a playful jab:
“Shaheen said it was going to turn, but not one ball has turned here in three games,” Warner remarked with a grin.
Lahore’s decision to field a spin-heavy attack didn’t pay off, especially after rain altered the conditions. In contrast, Warner’s choice to rely on four pacers proved effective.

“I stuck with it [pace attack]. You’ve just got to back yourself. Our bowlers have been fantastic, they’ve been taking wickets, and right now there’s probably no room for an extra spinner,” he explained.
Lahore Qalandars posted a formidable 160/8 in a 15-over-a-side contest due to rain. Openers Mohammad Naeem and Fakhar Zaman laid a solid foundation with a 90-run partnership in just 7.5 overs.
Chasing a revised target of 168 under the DLS method, Karachi Kings faced early setbacks. But it was Irfan Khan Niazi who turned the tide with an unbeaten 48 off 21 balls, including five towering sixes. His aggressive batting ensured Karachi reached the target with three balls to spare.

“It was an amazing victory. First, I want to talk about the bowlers; they did a great job of restricting them to 160,” David Warner said.
“And then obviously it was a brilliant effort by [Irfan Khan] Niazi. We stuck with him and spoke to him about having that hunger and desire, and today, the way he played was the cream on the top.”
With this victory, Karachi Kings have bolstered their position on the points table and are eyeing a top-two finish. They will face Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United in their final group matches on May 8 and 10, respectively.
“We’ve pulled off a miracle today,” Warner concluded. “Momentum is with us. Now the goal is to carry it into Rawalpindi and finish strong.”
