Iceland Cricket sarcastically trolled Pakistan’s Director of Cricket, Mohammad Hafeez, following his comments blaming umpiring and technology for their team’s defeat in the second Test against Australia.

During the post-match press conference, Hafeez attributed their loss to flaws in umpiring decisions and technology.

โ€œWe made mistakes as a team but even umpiring and technology had flaws in the second game. The result would have been different had things went in our favour,โ€ said Mohammad Hafeez.

Reacting sharply to Hafeez’s statement, Iceland Cricket chimed in, sarcastically on X.

โ€œItโ€™s amazing. How can the more talented and superior team have lost 16 matches in a row in Australia? Surely those lucky Aussies will stop being lucky soon,โ€ Iceland Cricket posted.

For the unversed, during the Melbourne Test between Pakistan and Australia, a crucial umpiring decision sparked the debate about the use of technology.

Pakistan needed 98 runs with 5 wickets in hand in the chase of 317 when Mohammad Rizwan was given out by the third umpire. The ball hit the wristband of Rizwanโ€™s glove and Alex Carey took a brilliant catch behind the stumps.

Michael Gough turned down Australiaโ€™s appeal and Pat Cummins went for the DRS. The third umpire, Richard Illingworth, found evidence that led to overturning the on-field decision, resulting in Rizwan’s dismissal.

This dismissal opened the floodgates as Pakistan lost five wickets for a mere 18 runs, losing in a 79-run defeat.

Australian skipper Pat Cummins also reacted over Mohammad Hafeez’s comments with a witty smile, saying,ย โ€œAhhhh. Cool. They played well. I am glad we got the win.โ€

โ€œIt doesnโ€™t really matter, does it? It is the team who wins at the end,โ€ he added.
