When we thought things are finally getting better, it turns out, they’re not.

Earlier, China had reported that the last coronavirus patient has recovered and the country is free from the virus. A few days ago, China had claimed that no new local cases of Covid-19 have been reported which is indeed a major milestone for China.

However, things aren’t as they seem to be. One of China’s top coronavirus experts, Professor Li Lanjuan, 73, member of Beijing’s expert team on the virus said that she is very worried about the ‘imported’ cases in China that could again, trigger a large-scale epidemic in China.

The second coronavirus outbreak in China

In other words, Professor Lanjuan has sent out a warning that the country is facing a second outbreak due to the increasing number of infections detected among people arriving from abroad.

She came forward with her statement after health officials in China reported the country’s first case of someone who is believed to have contracted the disease, known as COVID-19, from another person returning from abroad.

She told People’s Daily in Wuhan that, “The mission in Wuhan has not been accomplished, and there are still many critical patients. Furthermore, I think the current situation in our country is very tough”.

She has also demanded officials to follow strict measures and identify those who were infected by the virus and have not been officially diagnosed. She further warned that they could start the epidemic once again.

Reported cases in China

According to Chinese health officials, no new local cases of the deadly virus have been reported. So far, the country has recorded 64 new cases of coronavirus which were spread by people returning from abroad.

Moreover, Wuhan is slowly returning to normal after a two-month lockdown.

We are really hoping for this pandemic to end soon so that people could go on with their routine life. What preventive measures are you taking? Let us know in the comments below.
