Ladies and gentlemen, there is a new competitor in the market which is ready to give both the Toyota Corolla and Honda Civic a tough time – Hyundai Elantra!

The Elantra is a direct rival to both the Civic and Corolla as well as many other variants in the market. Also known as Avante, the Elantra is one of Hyundai’s most important models.

Since its introduction in 1990, Hyundai has sold over 13.8mn Elantra units worldwide!

As of now, Hyundai has introduced the 6th generation which has already arrived in oversea markets in 2016-17.

Hyundai revealed the all-new 7th generation Elantra at Lot Studios in West Hollywood, California, and it is absolutely stunning! The 4-door coupe style ride follows the same exterior and interior regardless of the market.

The Hyundai Elantra comes with the carryover 2.0L naturally aspirated 147HP MPI engine with 179NM of torque. The transmission is CVT, which Hyundai calls IVT /Intelligent Variable Transmission. The Elantra is now also offered with a new Hybrid 1.6L Direct injection engine.

Hyundai Elantra’s K3 Technology

The Elantra is based on Hyundai’s new K3 technology, a platform that not only helps improve its fuel economy but makes it lighter as well as faster. Through the K3 platform, Hyundai has helped the model achieve a lower center of gravity; which has not only improved its driving dynamics but also its on-road handling and a decent performance boost.

Interior

According to Hyundai, the interior design is named “immersive cocoon” and based on airplane cockpit and driver-centric. The interior space has been roomy with time and has had improvements with the head, shoulder, and legroom for the driver and all passengers.

Cockpit Features

The cockpit comes with a number of features for both the driver and the passengers. The Elantra comes with wireless Apple car-play and Android connectivity as well. You also get a wireless smartphone charger. Moreover, it comes with an optional digital key which means you can lock, unlock, start and drive your Elantra with your phone not needing a physical key.

Other features include a 64 colors customizable ambient lighting.  Voice recognition, 8 speaker premium  Bose audio system,  dual-zone automatic climate control, and much more are available in the car. PS, some trims come with sunroof options!

Safety

Hyundai is offering standard active equipment in all trims, it includes forward collision warning, lane keep assist, high beam assist, and a rearview camera. On the other hand blind-spot monitoring, smart cruise control, and rear traffic alert are optional.

Possible Production Delays

With the Coronavirus pandemic taking over the world, the production for Elantra as well as other cars have been disrupted. Hence, production delays are expected.

Whereas Hyundai-Nishat motors will start the assembly for the 6th generation Elantra face-lift for the Pakistani markets in September of 2020. Sadly Pakistan will not be able to make the most of the 7th for another 2 years at most.
