According Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), a severe storm followed by torrential rain struck several areas of Punjab, resulting in 13 fatalities and 92 more injuries.
According to the PDMA three persons perished in Lahore alone as a result of the storm and strong winds. Other districts also reported losses. One death was reported in Mianwali, Sialkot, Nankana Sahib, Sheikhupura, and Rawalpindi. Three fatalities were reported by Jhelum.
The storm harmed many places, particularly old structures and mud homes. Many places saw tree falls, and several solar panels in Lahore received damage, according to the spokesman.
PDMA ordered commissioners, deputy commissioners, and rescue teams throughout Punjab to be on watch and prepared for crises. Monitoring the situation round the clock is the PDMA control room’s goal. Confirming this, PDMA Director General Irfan Ali Kathia said, “In accordance with provincial policy, financial assistance will be given to affected households.”
According to Punjab Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed, “Those hurt in storm-related accidents are receiving the best possible medical treatment available.”
In another related incident, a private airline trip going from Karachi to Lahore experienced extreme turbulence halfway through an intense windstorm. Several minutes of the aircraft remained in the storm, according to reports, hence alarming passengers. Many of the passengers onboard began chanting passages throughout the terrible ordeal.
The storm disrupted daily life in addition to harming infrastructure. Authorities are still keeping an eye on things and offering help as required.
