Microsoft’s Xbox and Sony’s PlayStation have long dominated the competitive realm of gaming consoles. These consoles have served as the ultimate battleground for gamers.

However, 2027 will prove decisive for the future of gaming consoles. Sony’s next-generation console, PS6, and Microsoft’s Xbox Magnus are set to hit shelves in the same year.

While there are differences in hardware specifications and price tags, Microsoft’s Xbox Magnus has a slight edge as the games might just be cheaper than PS6.

Will Games on the Next-Generation Xbox Magnus Be Cheaper Than Sony’s PS6?

According to leaked insider reports, the next-generation Xbox console will have full access to the Windows Operating System (OS). Thus, players could exit the Xbox OS and purchase games sold on the Steam store.

Access to the Steam store also makes Xbox Magnus users eligible for Valve’s infamous “Steam Summer Sale,” and discounted offers in Spring and Winter too.

The Steam Sale is likely to create a significant price difference between the Xbox Magnus and PS6, with the former being much cheaper.

Games could be cheaper on the next-generation Xbox console.

The Next-Generation Xbox Console Will Cost More

Although games might be cheaper, leaked reports suggest that Xbox Magnus will be more expensive than the next-generation PS6.

The next-gen Xbox will be using the AMD Magnus APU, combining a CPU and GPU in a single chip. This large chip will be 46% larger than the one planned for Sony’s PS6.

The AMD Magnus APU makes the next-generation Xbox more powerful than PS6, but it also adds to the cost. The Xbox Magnus could cost between $800 and $1200, significantly more than the $600 consumers will pay for the PS6.

Microsoft and Sony have gathered a loyal fanbase over the decades. Thus, brand loyalty will also play a part in the console gamers buy. Nonetheless, 2027 will inevitably be an exciting year for gamers.
