Since the lights went out in Suzuka, Kimi Antonelli’s podium was the biggest topic in the Formula 1 world. However, Max Verstappen’s race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, moving to McLaren in 2028 news has switched the podium news.
Once Gianpiero Lambiase’s contract with RedBull Racing ends in 2028, he will be moving to McLaren. He will be working as the chief racing officer with McLaren. Gianpiero Lambiase, aka GP, has been working with Verstappen since his Toro Rosso days.
Gianpiero’s Career Highlights
Lambiase started his F1 career as a data engineer for the Jordan team in 2005. As time went on, Lambiase joined the Force India team as their race engineer, and after that, he moved to RedBull in 2015.
Initially, he was the race engineer for Russian racer Daniil Kvyat. It was in 2016 that he partnered with now 4 time world champion Max Verstappen. More recently, he also took on the role of head of racing at the RedBull Racing while continuing to serve as a race engineer for Verstappen
However, his time at the Red Bull team will soon come to an end, with the F1 confirming that he will be departing Red Bull to join McLaren in 2028 once his contract ends.
