Vehicle Registrations to be Cancelled for Tax Defaulters from 2025

The Excise and Taxation Department has announced tough measures against token tax defaulters, effective January 1, 2025. Director Bilal Azam Khan warned that vehicle registrations of defaulters will be cancelled. A 15-day grace period has been granted to settle outstanding dues. “If registration is cancelled, a 200% penalty will be imposed for its restoration,” he stated.

Citizens are urged to clear their token taxes immediately to avoid penalties and legal action. The department reiterated its commitment to enforcing tax regulations and appealed to vehicle owners for timely compliance. “Citizens are encouraged to deposit token taxes immediately to avoid inconvenience or penalties,” Director Khan added.
