When Cristiano Ronaldo scores, the world usually knows what is coming next. A sprint. A leap. The famous “Siu”. This time, however, he had something else in mind.
During Al Nassr FC’s thumping 5-0 win over Al Najma in Unaizah, Ronaldo unveiled a brand new celebration that caught everyone off guard. And yes, it quickly became the talking point of the night.
A Basketball Twist Instead of “Siu”
Ronaldo opened the scoring from the penalty spot, calmly converting early in the match to register his 21st league goal of the season.
So far, so routine. But instead of launching into his trademark celebration, he sprinted towards the corner flag, leapt into the air and flicked his wrist as if releasing a basketball jumper. The motion looked smooth, almost playful.

Was it inspired by the NBA? Was it a subtle message? Only Ronaldo truly knows.
What is clear, though, is that even at this stage of his career, he still finds ways to reinvent himself.
Al Nassr in Complete Control
While the celebration grabbed headlines, the performance itself was equally impressive.
Al Nassr dominated from start to finish. Kingsley Coman doubled the lead in the 32nd minute, giving the visitors breathing room. Just before half-time, Inigo Martinez struck from long range to make it three.
After the break, Sadio Mane added a fourth, and Martinez grabbed his second in the 80th minute to complete the rout.
There was no drama. No late tension. Just controlled, clinical football.
For Al Najma, it was another painful evening. They remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just eight points, still eight points adrift of safety.
Ronaldo’s Relentless Numbers
Let’s pause for a moment and look at the bigger picture. That goal was Ronaldo’s 965th official career strike. He now sits just 35 goals away from the historic 1000 mark. Think about that for a second. One thousand career goals. It sounds unreal, yet somehow still within reach.
In the league alone, he has 21 goals in 21 matches this season. That level of consistency at his age is remarkable.
He remains firmly in the Golden Boot race as well. Ivan Toney currently leads the charts, but Ronaldo is only two goals behind. With 11 matches left to play, that race is far from settled.
