The Government of Punjab has imposed Section 144 across the province for seven days, banning public gatherings, rallies and demonstrations. The order was issued through an official notification by the Punjab Home Department in response to credible security concerns.

Authorities cited intelligence reports warning that large public assemblies could become potential targets for terrorist elements. In addition, officials expressed concern that certain groups might attempt to create unrest or incite sectarian tensions. As a preventive step, the provincial administration decided to restrict public activities to maintain law and order.

Under the directive, no public gathering can take place without prior approval from local authorities. The display and carrying of weapons have also been completely prohibited throughout the province. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to ensure strict implementation, while district administrations remain empowered to take immediate action against violations.

Security has been reinforced in major cities, including Lahore, with increased patrols and monitoring around sensitive locations. Officials clarified that the measure is precautionary and aims to safeguard citizens and public property during a sensitive period.

Nationwide Drone Ban Strengthens Security Framework

Alongside these restrictions, the Government of Pakistan has announced an immediate nationwide ban on the use of drones, including recreational and commercial devices. Provincial authorities have been directed to enforce the order strictly, while law enforcement and intelligence agencies remain exempt.

Violations of the drone ban will be dealt with under Section 144, and police officials have been authorised to register cases against offenders. Following the federal directive, the Sindh Home Department also imposed a 60-day ban on drones across Sindh, including Karachi.

Officials emphasised that these coordinated measures are designed to enhance public safety, prevent misuse of technology and maintain stability across the country.
