According to security officials, the Jaffar Express, which was travelling from Quetta to Peshawar with more than 400 people in nine bogies, was attacked in the Dhadar neighbourhood of Bolan Pass. So far, 104 passengers have been rescued, said the security sources, adding, among those rescued were 58 men, 31 women and 15 children. “Efforts are ongoing to ensure the safe release of the remaining passengers. The terrorists have been surrounded, and the operation will continue until the last terrorist is neutralised,”  security sources stated.

The event has sparked worries about the safety of the railway routes that travel through isolated parts of the province. However, officials have reassured the public that steps are being made to stop future attacks of this nature.
