The ACC Under 19 Asia Cup 2025 is finally underway, and the UAE is buzzing with teenage talent, new storylines and a schedule packed with high-stakes cricket. The tournament started earlier today with India taking on the UAE at the ICC Academy, while Pakistan opened their campaign against Malaysia at The Sevens Stadium.
A Tournament with Purpose
This is not just another junior event. The Asia Cup will act as a crucial build-up to the ICC Under 19 World Cup 2026, which Zimbabwe and Namibia will co-host early next year. With only two months to go before the global stage, every match becomes an opportunity for teams to fine-tune combinations, test young talent and identify leaders.
Hosted by the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB), the event runs from 12 to 21 December with 15 matches scheduled across two venues, the ICC Academy Ground and The Sevens Stadium. All games begin at 9 AM local time, which means long, busy cricketing mornings in the desert.
How the Groups are Shaping Up
The eight-team tournament is divided into two groups.
Group A
-
Pakistan
-
India
-
Malaysia
-
United Arab Emirates
Group B
-
Bangladesh
-
Sri Lanka
-
Afghanistan
-
Nepal
Each team plays every other side in its group. The top two will progress to the semi-finals on 19 December, and the final will be played on 21 December at the ICC Academy.
Group A has already attracted attention thanks to the early Pakistan-India fixture. These matches rarely need extra hype, and when they involve the next generation, the excitement doubles.
Pakistan’s Route in the Group Stage
Pakistan’s campaign began on 12 December against Malaysia at The Sevens Stadium. After that, the main event arrives almost immediately. Pakistan meet India on 14 December at the ICC Academy in what will undoubtedly be one of the most-watched matches of the tournament.
They will then wrap up the group stage on 16 December against hosts UAE at the same venue. It is a tough but balanced route, giving Pakistan a chance to build momentum before heading into the knockouts.
