The Karachi Traffic Police Chief has issued the Muharram procession traffic plan. A traffic diversion plan has been released so that all the citizens of Karachi face fewer problems whether they’re part of the processions or not.

The upcoming processions will take place during the days of Ashura, Muharram 8, 9, and 10, as reported by sources. The plan includes designated alternative routes to manage traffic in the city during the processions. Here are the key details of the traffic plan:

  • Muharram 8 (July 27):
    The main procession will begin at 1:30 pm from Nishtar Park and pass through various streets before concluding at the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah in Kharadar.
  • Muharram 9 (July 28):
    The procession of religious scholars will start at 9 am from Liaquatabad Imambargah and reach Nishtar Park, where the main assembly will be held. The procession will then continue through several streets to reach the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah.
  • 10th Muharram (July 29):
    A large assembly will be held at Nishtar Park from 7:30 am to 9 am. Afterward, the main procession will move towards the Hussainian Iranian Imambargah through different streets.

Traffic Diversions 

  • Vehicles coming from the city will be diverted from Soldier Bazaar (Bahadur Yar Jung Road), Coast Guards HQ, and Ankle Saria Chowk to Jubilee or Nishtar Road.
  • Vehicles from Nazimabad to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted from Lasbela Chowk on Nishtar Road leading towards Garden.
  • Vehicles from Liaquatabad to MA Jinnah Road will be diverted from Teen Hatti Chowk on Jail Road leading towards Martin Road.
  • All traffic on University Road towards MA Jinnah Road will be directed towards the New MA Jinnah Road.
  • Vehicles coming from Super Highway, Gulberg, to MA Jinnah Road, will be diverted via various roads to Mauripur.

Important Notice 

  • No traffic will be allowed on the procession routes beyond Gurumandir Chowk.
  • Only vehicles with stickers indicating participation in the procession will be allowed on MA Jinnah Road.
  • The procession participants’ routes have been specified from different parts of the city to Numaish.

Various locations have been marked for diversions to ensure a smooth traffic flow during the processions. Please follow the instructions and diversions for a hassle-free commute during this significant religious event. Caution taken by you leads to safety for everyone.
