Up until some time ago, Google did offer free unlimited storage to its users. This refers to the storage allocated for Google photos. It meant that people could back up and store as many of their pictures as well. It was a good way to keep a check on all the pictures as well as keep track of their dates. However, now that the free option is over, what should we do?

The storage has been fixed to 15GB and any photos you store are going to be a part of this. However, your previously stored photos will not occupy any space of the standard 15GB. Google has taken this opportunity to inform its users about the new subscription service. It is quite interesting and this news definitely deserves a glance.

Google Photos Storage

Google is introducing a subscription service going by the name of Google One. Under this, users can pay $2 a month and get 100GB of storage. While the 15GB standard is not a small amount and can store three months worth of data, many people want more. They want to make sure they have backups of every single photo that they have taken. It is understandable if one wishes to preserve memories.

The subscription plan starts at $2 and can go much higher than that. According to Google, what they have offered so far is,

  • 100GB: $2 a month or $20 annually
  • 200GB: $3 a month or $30 annually
  • 2TB: $10 a month or $100 annually

The third one is quite a big package and this is thousands and thousands of photos worth of storage space. If you wish to document and store an immense amount of moments from your life, these subscription packages are for you. We recommend that you check your storage requirement first before you start to pay for a plan.

Google Being Innovative

This all is sure to attract a lot of users because of how common photography is. People want to store their memories and not let them get lost. Google even had a robust way to manage all photos so people only have more reason to subscribe. Despite there being offline storage options, this can be quite a viable and reliable one.

However, there is another piece of good news for Google pixel users. If you do have a Google Pixel phone, then you can rest even easier. For them, there is no cap on the photo limit and they can still upload ad much as they want. By this, we mean that they still get unlimited storage for free!
