The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a full-scale public transport operation across Karachi, along with a detailed traffic plan for the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 Qualifier clash on Tuesday.

After weeks of silence in the stands, fans are set to return for the knockout stage of the PSL 11. However, this comeback comes with a clear message – be smart, be responsible, and most importantly, use public transport.

Following approval from Shehbaz Sharif, crowds will be allowed for all three playoff matches. The decision was confirmed by Mohsin Naqvi after a meeting with the prime minister.

The playoffs kick off today with Qualifier 1 between Peshawar Zalmi and Islamabad United at the National Bank Stadium.

So yes, the atmosphere is back. But it comes with responsibility. Due to ongoing austerity measures and the wider fuel situation, fans have been strongly advised to avoid unnecessary fuel usage. In simple terms, leave your cars at home if you can.

Public Transport Across the City

In a significant move, the PCB has arranged city-wide transport to ensure fans can reach the National Bank Stadium without relying on private vehicles.

Red buses, electric buses, and special coaches will operate on key routes throughout the city. These include:

  • Red Bus running from Liaquatabad via Shahrah-e-Faisal
  • Electric Bus covering Numaish to Safora
  • Bus routes 51 and 52 operating from Malir to Numaish

All buses will drop fans directly at the stadium gates. This is clearly aligned with the government’s push to reduce fuel consumption, especially after Shehbaz Sharif approved public attendance for the playoffs with a strong emphasis on using public transport.

Traffic Plan Issued for PSL 11 Qualifier

Alongside the transport plan, authorities have also released a detailed traffic management strategy.

Sir Shah Suleman Road will remain open for traffic on both sides, which should ease general movement in the area.

However, fans attending the match have been directed towards specific parking zones. Parking will be available at:

  • National Coaching Centre
  • China Ground

Fans coming from different areas have been given clear routes:

  • From Karsaz: Use Habib Ibrahim Rehmatullah Road, pass under the stadium flyover, and reach Sir Shah Suleman Road
  • From Millennium: Travel via Stadium Road and Pir Sibghatullah Shah Rashdi Road, then take a right under the flyover
  • From New Town: Use Stadium Road, pass Aga Khan Hospital, and turn left towards the designated parking

Heavy Traffic Restrictions in Place

To avoid congestion, heavy traffic will not be allowed on several major routes. These include:

  • Sohrab Goth to NIPA
  • Liaquatabad No.10
  • Hassan Square
  • PP Chowrangi to University Road
  • Karsaz to Stadium
  • Millennium to New Town signal

This restriction is aimed at keeping the flow smooth around the stadium on what is expected to be a busy evening.

Advisory for Fans

Authorities have urged fans to cooperate with traffic police and law enforcement agencies.

More importantly:

  • Do not park vehicles on service roads or main roads
  • Use designated parking areas only
  • Prefer public transport to avoid delays

For assistance, fans can contact the traffic helpline (1915), use social media channels, or tune into FM 88.6 for live updates.
