Russia and China took the second and third positions, respectively. Although Russia’s stock is still impressive, the ongoing war in Ukraine has resulted in losses, including 220 aircraft destroyed since 2022. China, on the other hand, has been rapidly advancing, with the unveiling of a sixth-generation fighter jet and significant investments in supersonic aircraft technologies.

India ranks fourth with an impressive fleet of 2,296 aircraft, underscoring its growing focus on modernising its air force. South Korea and Japan follow in fifth and sixth positions, with robust air fleets of 1,576 and 1,459 aircraft, respectively.

Pakistan’s Strategic Position

Seventh place is what makes Pakistan’s intent in the strategic domain of maintaining a strong and efficient air force. Operating 1,434 aircraft consisting of fighter jets, helicopters and support units, PAF is an essential part of the country’s defence strategy. PAF continues to modernize its fleet while keeping itself on operational readiness.

The top 10 list is rounded out by Egypt, Turkey, and France, whose air forces consist of 1,080, 1,069, and 972 aircraft, respectively. The report shows that air power is dynamic.
