After Gosling’s Project Hail Mary gained huge success at the box office, Ryan Gosling has another project lined up.

On Thursday, March 26, news broke that Ryan Gosling will star in a new event film from the directors of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (The Daniels). The untitled Universal Pictures project is set for a November 19, 2027, release, with production starting in Los Angeles this summer.

The movie, which does not have a title yet, is to debut on Nov 19, 2027.

The Perfect Timing

The casting news follows a massive opening for Gosling’s new sci-fi adventure, Project Hail Mary, which earned $80.6 million domestically in its first weekend. This record-breaking debut marks the biggest opening of 2026 so far and a career-high for Amazon MGM Studios.

It easily beat the previous Amazon MGM record of $58.4 million set by Creed III in 2023.

The Filmmakers’ History

At age 38, filmmakers Kwan and Scheinert rose to fame with their 2022 hit, Everything Everywhere All at Once. A California laundromat owner (Michelle Yeoh) and her husband’s variant (Ke Huy Quan) travel the multiverse. Together, they travel through the multiverse to save existence.

The movie won seven Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Actress, Best Supporting Actress, Best Supporting Actor, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Costume Design at the 2023 Oscars.

Kwan and Scheinert have not released a narrative movie together since Kwan most recently produced a new documentary on artificial intelligence titled The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist.

At a surprise NYC screening of Project Hail Mary, Gosling told Variety it’s the industry’s “job to make things that make it worth you coming out” to theaters. He will next star in the May 2027 Star Wars film, Starfighter, and the action-comedy Tough Guys with Will Ferrell.

Upcoming Gosling Projects:

  • Starfighter (May 2027): His debut in the Star Wars franchise.
  • Tough Guys: An action-comedy pairing him with Will Ferrell, first reported by Deadline in July 2025.
  • The Daniels Project: His newly announced collaboration with the EEAAO directors.
