The queen of World Cup anthems is officially back. Shakira has returned to football’s biggest stage with her brand-new FIFA World Cup 2026 track, ‘Dai Dai’, and fans are already calling it the next global stadium hit.

The Colombian superstar unveiled a teaser for the song from the iconic Maracanã Stadium on Thursday, instantly sending social media into a frenzy. The full release drops on May 14, just weeks before the FIFA World Cup kicks off across the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

‘Dai Dai’ Brings Together Latin Pop and Afrobeats

The one-minute teaser features Shakira dancing on the Maracanã field alongside performers dressed in colours inspired by participating nations. Nigerian Afrobeats sensation Burna Boy also joins the track, adding a fresh global sound to the anthem.

In the clip, Shakira sings:

“Here in this place / You belong.”

A male voice follows with:

“What broke you once / Made you strong.”

The energy of ‘Dai Dai’ feels instantly familiar yet modern at the same time. The song blends Shakira’s signature Latin-pop style with reggaetón beats and Burna Boy’s Afrobeats influence. According to reports, the title translates roughly to “Let’s go,” perfectly matching the spirit of the tournament.

Shakira and the FIFA World Cup Go Hand in Hand

This is not Shakira’s first football era takeover. In fact, the singer has become deeply linked with FIFA World Cup culture over the last two decades.

Her 2010 anthem Waka Waka (This Time for Africa) became one of the biggest World Cup songs ever made. The track dominated charts globally and still plays at football events today.

She followed that success with La La La (Brazil 2014) and also performed Hips Don’t Lie during the 2006 FIFA World Cup closing ceremony in Germany.

Now, this anthem marks another major chapter in her football legacy.

FIFA World Cup 2026 Is Set to Be Massive

The 2026 FIFA World Cup begins on June 11 at Azteca Stadium with Mexico facing South Africa. The final will take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium.

This year’s tournament will feature 48 teams, making it the biggest FIFA World Cup in history. Colombia, Shakira’s home country, has also qualified for the competition. Meanwhile, Shakira’s World Cup song arrives separately from Coca-Cola’s official FIFA campaign anthem, which features J Balvin, Travis Barker, Amber Mark, and Steve Vai.

The Next ‘Waka Waka’

Even before release, ‘Dai Dai’ is collecting rave reviews online. Fans praised the teaser’s choreography, stadium visuals, and uplifting lyrics within hours of its release.

Shakira clearly understands how to turn football into a musical moment. From South Africa to Brazil and now North America, she continues to define the sound of the FIFA World Cup for an entire generation. If the teaser is anything to go by, ‘Dai Dai’ may soon become the soundtrack of summer 2026.
