Curious minds from across the city have gathered under one roof as a five-day book fair opened at the Expo Centre Karachi on December 18 and will continue until December 22.
The fair brings together local and international publishers, offering everything from academic titles and children’s literature to fiction, non-fiction, religion, history and cookbooks. Thousands of books, new releases, rare finds and budget-friendly editions are up for grabs, making it a paradise for broke students and seasoned bibliophiles alike.
Organisers say the event aims to revive reading culture in a time dominated by short attention spans and endless scrolling. Alongside book stalls, the fair features author meet-and-greets, panel discussions, book launches and interactive sessions designed to spark conversations beyond the pages.
Families, students and educators are expected to attend in large numbers, with special activities planned for children to encourage early reading habits. Security arrangements have been put in place, while food stalls and seating areas ensure visitors can linger without burnout.
Open daily from morning till evening, the Karachi book fair is less about buying books and more about rediscovering the joy of stories, slow, thoughtful and refreshingly offline. In a city that never stops talking, this week, the books are doing the speaking.
