The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has launched a blockchain-based degree attestation verification system. This new platform will cut verification time from weeks to minutes. It offers a faster, safer, and fully paperless process.
HEC officials said growing verification requests and delays from manual paperwork made the shift necessary. They added that employers and embassies increasingly demand faster and more reliable verification. Consequently, the new system will reduce the workload for students and universities while improving transparency.
HEC Blockchain System Replaces Physical Visits
The digital system removes the need for applicants to visit HEC offices or submit physical documents. All degree records will store securely on a blockchain, making them tamper-proof. Therefore, government departments, embassies, and private organisations can verify degrees directly online.
This model aligns Pakistan with global standards where universities issue certified, blockchain-verified credentials.
How the New Process Works
Graduates from 25 universities that use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems will enjoy automatic verification. Their records will sync with the HEC blockchain immediately after graduation. As a result, they can access verified degrees instantly.
Students from universities without ERP systems will upload scanned documents through the HEC portal. Once the university confirms the records, HEC adds them to the blockchain for permanent storage. Consequently, all applicants can verify and download attested credentials directly online, without stamps or in-person checks.
