Quetta Gladiators have unveiled their captain and coaching staff ahead of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11.
There are no dramatic overhauls here. Instead, the franchise has opted for continuity, trust and a clear sense of direction.
Saud Shakeel retains captaincy
Quetta have confirmed that Saud Shakeel will continue as captain for PSL 11, having led the side in the previous season as well.
It is a decision that reflects stability. Shakeel may not be the loudest presence on the field, but he brings calmness and tactical awareness, qualities that matter in a high-pressure T20 league.
More importantly, the franchise seems willing to give him time to grow into the role rather than constantly changing leadership.
Experienced brains behind the scenes
While the captain remains the same, the real strength of Quetta’s setup lies in its experienced support staff.
Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan steps in as head coach, bringing decades of cricketing knowledge and a no-nonsense approach. Alongside him, Sarfaraz Ahmed continues as team director, a role he took up ahead of PSL 10.
Sarfaraz’s presence adds a strong connection to the franchise’s identity. After all, he led Quetta to their title-winning campaign in the past.
The coaching group also includes:
-
Iqbal Imam as assistant coach
-
Wahab Riaz as bowling coach
-
Azam Khan as team manager
It is a well-rounded setup, blending experience with recent playing insight.
A squad with balance and potential
Looking at the squad, Quetta appear to have assembled a mix of youth and proven performers.
The presence of players like Rilee Rossouw, Ben McDermott and Tom Curran adds international experience, while local talents such as Abrar Ahmed and Usman Tariq bring energy and promise.
The addition of Alzarri Joseph strengthens the pace attack, especially given his familiarity with PSL conditions.
Overall, it is not a squad filled with superstars, but it is certainly one that can compete if things click at the right time.
