The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) suspended cricketer Haider Ali on Thursday after UK police began investigating him. The PCB confirmed this action in an official statement. They said Greater Manchester Police informed them about an incident during the Pakistan Shaheens tour of England.
The Pakistan Shaheens squad, led by Saud Shakeel, is in England from July 17 to August 6. The team is playing two three-day and three 50-over matches. Haider Ali was part of this squad before the suspension. However, the PCB did not share the nature of the incident. They also withheld any other details.
The board stated, “In line with its duty of care and responsibility to ensure the welfare and legal rights of all its players, the PCB has ensured that Haider Ali has received appropriate legal support to protect his rights throughout this process.” They stressed the importance of letting the investigation proceed without interference.
The PCB added that they respect British legal procedures. They want the investigation to reach its natural conclusion. “Accordingly, the PCB has decided to place Haider Ali under provisional suspension, effective immediately, pending the outcome of the ongoing investigation,” the statement read.
The statement further added, “Once the legal proceedings are concluded and all facts have been duly established, the PCB reserves the right to take appropriate action under its Code of Conduct, if necessary.”

The board also made it clear that it will not issue any more comments until the case is legally closed. They aim to avoid influencing the process. In the meantime, Haider Ali will not be part of any team activities.
This suspension marks a serious step by the PCB during an active international tour. It shows the board’s stance on discipline and cooperation with legal authorities. The cricket community now awaits the outcome of the UK police investigation to know Haider Ali’s future in the sport.
