According to DG ISPR, India is using force to show the Kashmir issue as a domestic matter. He also pointed out that there is no real effort from India’s side to resolve the conflict. Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry averred that Pakistan wants peace but not at the price of succumbing to Indian hegemony during an interview with Anadolu Agency.
He unequivocally responded, “The fact is that India is not the United States, and Pakistan is not Afghanistan. India is not Israel, and Pakistan is not Palestine.”
Gen Chaudhry denied Indian allegations regarding the Pahalgam incident. He asserted that India has not produced any evidentiary proof and is employing such incidents to propagate terrorism.
Talking about the recent tensions along the border, DG ISPR revealed that Pakistan downed five Indian warplanes, including three Rafales. “It is the truth known to the world, but India doesn’t acknowledge it,” he added.
He averred that currently, Pakistan is the most vulnerable country to terror. Since January 2024, over 3,700 terror operations have taken place in Pakistan. They caused 3,896 casualties, including 1,314 martyrs, in less than 17 months. Over 2,500 individuals have sustained amputations, and quite a number have died.
The DG ISPR blamed India for supporting and facilitating such terrorism in Pakistan. According to him, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) which had claimed responsibility for the Jaffar Express attack had “sought military support from India.”
He further stated that certain Indian politicians, leaders, and former generals have expressed public support for the BLA.
Referring to Kashmir, General Chaudhry stated the territory remains an internationally accepted dispute. He declared, “What is occurring in Kashmir and within India is a consequence of domestic repression.”
He warned, “We are a peace-loving nation, but if provoked or attacked by India, our response will be swift and severe.”
