Thunderstorms Expected in Karachi on Monday

Thunderstorms expected in Karachi as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecasts light rain and strong winds for the city on Monday. A westerly weather system that had earlier impacted upper and central Pakistan is now moving toward southern regions, including various districts of Sindh.

PMD stated that light rain with thunder is expected today (Sunday) in several districts of Sindh. These include Jamshoro, Tando Muhammad Khan, Badin, Thatta, Qambar-Shahdadkot, Hyderabad, Matiari, Tando Allahyar, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar and Shaheed Benazirabad.

According to the forecast, districts such as Ghotki, Sukkur, Khairpur, Sanghar, and Mirpurkhas are also likely to receive scattered thunderstorms and light rain.

Looking ahead to Monday, rainfall is expected in areas like Umerkot, Tharparkar, Badin, Hyderabad, Matiari, and Jamshoro.

The PMD added that strong winds are expected to blow across Karachi and several other parts of Sindh on both Sunday and Monday. This weather pattern is part of the broader influence of the westerly system currently impacting the country.

Earlier forecasts had already indicated that parts of Sindh could expect rain from May 2. The recent update confirms that southern regions, including Karachi, will experience light rain and thunderstorms as the system moves further south.

These weather changes are part of seasonal patterns that bring instability, especially during transitional months. The PMD continues to monitor the situation and urges residents to stay updated through official weather advisories.

The forecast serves as a heads-up for people in the affected districts to prepare for possible disruptions caused by rain and strong winds, especially in urban centers like Karachi, which often experience waterlogging during showers.
