Previously, Zong planned on launching its 4G network next year in May 2015; however, since competition is tough, Zong has re-scheduled its launch date.

The early launch has given Zong the much needed competitive edge against Warid Telecom, the only other 4G network in Pakistan.

Industry officials have confirmed the news that PTA asked Zong to launch its 4G network before Warid, because Pakistan Telecommunication Authority sought to give the Zong a competitive control by becoming the first 4G operator in the country.
