Zimbabwean cricket squad has finally entered Pakistan breaking a six-year long curse of no International cricket on the country’s soil.

The Zimbabwean team landed at the Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore amidst high-security protocol. The squad includes 16 Zimbabwe players, nine team officials and five board officials who were flanked by heavy police security after their arrival.

Zimbabwe will play two T20Is and three ODIs at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore between May 22 and 31 before departing on June 1.

Zimbabwean squad is the first full member international team to agree on an official cricket tour to Pakistan. 

Pakistan, the country where cricket is played on street every time of the day has been a strict no-go area for international sports team since March March 3, 2009, when gunmen attacked the Sri Lankan team bus while it was en route to the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore for the third day of the second Test.

 Eight people lost their lives while some players were injured at Liberty roundabout near the stadium. 

Zimbabwe’s tour has also brought good news for some Pakistani players who have had a dry spell lately.
