The Foreign Office reported on Thursday, that Zaid Hamid, Pakistani analyst and commentator has been arrested in Saudi Arabia. Reportedly, the outspoken analyst got arrested on a visit to the country where he had made some statements against the Saudi Government.
There are not many details regarding his arrest, however, a spokesperson for the Foreign Office in Islamabad, Qazi Khalilullah told a news briefing that, “Our embassy in Riyadh has informed us that Mr Zaid Hamid was arrested about two weeks ago. Since then, the embassy has been working with the local authorities to get consular access.”
Self-proclaimed as a Defence Analyst and often criticized by the masses for his conspiracy theories, it is unclear what the Saudi Government has charged Mr. Hamid with.
