After 11 months post the purchase of Whatsapp by Facebook, the genius messaging application has surpassed the 700 million user mark. This was announced by the Co-founder and CEO of the Company, Jan Kaom yesterday in his Facebook post. He has claimed that more than 300 billion messages are sent via the application every day, and apart from that hundreds of millions of videos and photos are shared as well.

This new statistic means that the messenger itself is now larger than Twitter and Instagram combined. The good news is that in the first quarter of this year, WhatsApp aims to roll out new features, mainly Voice-Calling Technology.

Back when there was a lot of media speculation regarding the privacy settings of Whatsapp, Jan Koum had stated, “Respect for your privacy is coded into our DNA, and we built WhatsApp around the goal of knowing as little about you as possible,” and this could be one of the reasons why there has been unsurpassed growth in the number of users for the Smartphone-based App.
