WhatsApp Fingerprint

Feb 4, 2019: WhatsApp has introduced the Face ID and Touch ID features to keep your conversations private.

This extra layer of privacy on iOS with support for Touch ID and Face ID will allow users to lock their messages behind their iPhone’s biometric authentication features.

To enable this latest feature:

  • Go to settings.
  • Select Account, Privacy.
  • Enable ‘Lock Screen’.
  • Set a time limit( after a minute,15 minutes or 1 hour).

This latest feature locks up the entire app and doesn’t work on a per-chat basis. You will still receive notifications on the screen if you have turned them on and you will be able to quick-reply to messages and answer calls as well.

Touch ID is available on the iPhone 5S and above, while Face ID is available on the iPhone X and later.

Fingerprint lock authentication is headed to WhatsApp and will be soon available on Android devices-the company started.

Reportedly, the development work on the authentication feature is currently in work. However, there is no current timeline for the release of the feature, but it is in the works.

The messaging App is introducing the feature to protect its users’ chat from being seen by others.

In order to open their chats, users will need to provide fingerprint authentication like many individuals do to unlock their devices.

WhatsApp will also reportedly introduce the feature on IOS in the future, that will support two biometric features: the Face and Touch ID.

In order to activate the feature once it’s released, you will have to do the following: Settings > Account > Privacy.

Once the feature is enabled, WhatsApp will be completely protected, and no one will be able to access your chats.
