Warid’s LTE 4G services will be available commercially as of today, 26th December 2014. Warid has been offering free 4G services as a trial for over a month and will continue to do so for the next seven days. After the trial period is over next week, the Warid LTE 4G services will be available for PKR 5/MB in the six major cities of Pakistan:Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi and Gujranwala.

Warid’s LTE customers were sent notifications via emails, automated calls and text messages reminding them about the end of the free trial period and offering new packages for 4G services. While the base rate is set to be PKR 5/MB, the 4G bundles offered are as following:

  • Monthly 1.5GB: PKR 300
  • Monthly 5GB: PKR 500

With the backing of Ericsson to roll outlet technology, Warid became the first Pakistani mobile operator to move directly from 2G to LTE technology. According to the CEO of Warid Telecom, Muneer Farooqui, Warid will continue to invest in technology, reportedly a sum of USD 500 million, over the next five years, to ensure that the company stays ahead and provides the ultimate services to its customers.
