Just a matter of hours and Pakistan has lost two of its legendary performers – Veteran actor Maqsood Hassan and seasoned singer Habib Wali Muhammad.  

These two eminent artists are no longer with us, and along with the entire artist community, the entire country mourns the national loss.

Maqsood Hassan passed away on Wednesday night due to a heart failure at the age. He was a great radio, television and stage artiste. The legend dedicated fifty (50) years of his life for entertaining the nation until he died last night, at the age of 67.

Maqsood Hassan, like other actors of his era, started off his career from Radio Pakistan.

In addition to his career on the radio, the celluloid and silver screen, Hassan also performed on theatrical stage, with some of the most famous and celebrated actors Moin Akhtar, Umer Shareef, Lehri Sahab.  

His play ‘Bakra qiston per’ gained critical applause. His last stage show was Nazar Hussain’s ‘Hum log.’

His admirers not only belonged to the elder generation, but Hassan was also loved by youngster specially children for his remarkable performance in television drama ‘Quddusi sahab ki bewa’ .

Pakistan also suffered from the loss of a legendary singer Habib Wali Muhammad. He passed away on Thursday, September 4, at the age of 90.

Habib Wali Muhammad was being treated for his illness in Los Angeles for the past few days.

He belonged to an industrialist family, but his keen interest in music caught him at a very young age. He also won a singing competition in Mumbai which had more than 1,200 participants. Later after partition his family moved to Pakistan in 1947.

Habib was trained by Ustad Latafat Ali Khan in formal singing and got famous after the release of his very first song “Lagta nahi hai dil mera” which was a poem of Bahadur Shah Zafar. Other famous songs of Habib include “Kab mera nasheman ahl-e-chaman” and “Gulshan mein gawara karte hain”.

He also sang numerous patriotic songs along with some famous track for film industry.
