The new feature has been made available as of Tuesday, March 29 on the social media platform. Available to Twitter users on iOS and Android as well as Twitter publishing clients, the update allows users to add image descriptions via a simple add description icon so that they can be accessible to everyone including the visually impaired.
A limit of 420 characters has been set for each description.
Visually impaired users will then have access to the image description via various assistive technology including screen readers and braille displays.
