Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan completed his two-day official Pakistan tour and left for Turkey Thursday night. Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz, Begum Kulsoom Nawaz, Defence Chief Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, and Punjab cabinet members and high officials were all present at the Allama Iqbal International Airport to see off the president and his delegation.

During the two day visit, the Turkish President conducted a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and President Mamnoon Hussain. The Turkish President, President Erdogan became the first foreign dignitary to address a joint session of the Parliament for the 3rd time.

When Turkey was struck by a tragic earthquake in 1999, Pakistan was the nation that stood by them through thick and thin, stated the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in a recently addressed joint session of the Parliament in Islamabad whilst on his two-day tour of Pakistan.

Even in the midst of an attempted military coup failed to derail his government, Pakistan remained loyal to Turkey hence to honor Pakistan and show his gratitude towards the country he stated,“We will continue to extend the highest degree of support as Turkey is the current president of OIC Contact Group on Kashmir.”

PM Nawaz also held a grandeur banquet at the royal Hazoori Bagh, to honor the Turkish President. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was immensely grateful for Erdogan’s outlook of a more positive and peaceful solution regarding the Kashmir issue and thanked him for the Turkey’s active role at the OIC Contact Group on Kashmir.

He also filled Erdogan in on the current disposition of each country, also adding the serious consequences of the violations of human rights in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

President Erdogan believes that this dilemma can be resolved only by conversing with one another and not violence, “The issue of Kashmir needs a solution based on dialogue mechanism between Pakistan and India, in accordance with the UN resolutions and the demands of Kashmiris. The brothers and sisters of Kashmir have come to a point where we no longer can ignore them.” After the many casualties on both sides due to the Kashmir issue, Erdogan said,

He even expressed his sorrow at the Army Public School, Peshawar, tragedy, proclaiming during his speech that both Pakistan and Turkey’s relations are incredibly important and close-knit. Erdogan also felt as though they are legitimate brothers in the truest sense of the word, especially if their past is overlooked.
