Natasha Durrani

Executive Director, Media Matters

1. This International Women’s Day, I pledge…
To focus on uplifting women in this country by providing them more opportunities to shine. As the participation of women in the workforce rises due to technological advancements and changing narratives; we are embracing progressive times.

2. Across the organizational landscape, I want to see more female representation in…
every sector with no boundaries or restrictions. Women form a crucial element within the corporate equation and their representation should not be limited by departments or industries.

3. The one stereotype about women that should be busted this year is…
That they prioritize work over their families. It is assumed that with professional responsibilities, women forego their personal ones. This misconception needs to be eliminated as it couldn’t be further from reality.

Media Matters is promoting gender equality and women empowerment by providing comprehensive opportunities for female talent to aspire towards leadership roles.

4. My organization is promoting gender equality and women empowerment…
By providing comprehensive opportunities for female talent to aspire towards leadership roles. Women are an integral part of the team at Media Matters. They are given extensive responsibilities based on their talents with opportunities at par with their male counterparts.

5. I believe women can fight gender inequality at their workplaces…
By organizing and providing them exclusive relaxations, training, and development opportunities, as well as campaigning for equal rights to be extended to them.

6. As for men, they can help reduce gender bias at home and work…
By not limiting to gender roles made by the society, equally sharing domestic tasks with women, and helping them out wherever required, men can further enhance their role in the growth of women.

7. My message to young aspiring women looking to start a career in 2022 is…
Do not let your gender stop you from achieving your goals. You might have to fight for your rights and position but do not take no for an answer. Be confident and keep on trying.
