Amna Khatib – Paracha

Chief Digital and Strategy Officer, GroupM Pakistan

1. This International Women’s Day, I pledge…
To be the agent of change myself, rather than wait for things to happen around me.

2. Across the organizational landscape, I want to see more female representation in…
Senior leadership business roles. This is where women leaders can add more value in terms of their strategic strength along with empathy that usually comes naturally to them.

3. The one stereotype about women that should be busted this year is…
That women can’t take hard calls. They are too soft. Which is a total myth. Women are extremely capable of taking hard business calls where and when needed.

“GroupM Pakistan is promoting gender equality and women empowerment through our global program ‘Walk the Talk’, GroupM is encouraging women empowerment and equality.”

4. My organization is promoting gender equality and women empowerment…
Through our global program ‘Walk the Talk’, GroupM is encouraging women empowerment and equality. Locally as well, we have been executing many such programs to encourage women empowerment. From back-to-work post-maternity programs to helping working moms manage their schedules and workload, GroupM has been absolutely fair and unbiased when evaluating female candidates in comparison to male candidates for various roles.

5. I believe women in advertising and media can fight gender inequality at their workplaces…
By acting as mentors to their junior colleagues and helping them create programs where female resources are helped in their struggles. In my opinion, the age-old conversation of men vs women now needs to shift to ‘quality of resources’ rather than gender, and all leaders, men or women, need to play a role in this in their respective organizations.

6. As for men, they can help reduce gender bias at home and work…
By believing in and cascading gender equality and women empowerment. Most of our organizations are ‘Men Leader’ led and their buy-in to such initiatives is extremely prudent. From being role models as fathers to bosses to leaders; men are a very crucial part of the system.

7. My message to young aspiring women looking to start a career in 2022 is…
You are as good as your talent and hard work, not your gender! Go with this belief and you can conquer anything!
