Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif performed the inauguration ceremony for Sukkur-Multan Motorway today (Friday), as ARY News reports. PM also addressed the public upon the ground breaking ceremony of the motorway.

The event took place in Sukkur where a grand arrangement was made with thousands of chairs placed. The rally site also consisted of a helipad. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah and other political leaders were also present at the occasion.

High security measures were also take for the arrival of PM Nawaz to Sukkur.

The motorway project is 393 kilometer long as part of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Sukkur-Multan motorway is a six lane motorway that passes through Multan-Jalalpur Peerwala Ahmed Pur East, Ubaro and Pano Aqil, and at Sukkur.

54 bridges will be constructed along the route, with one bridge on River Sutlej. 12 service areas will be constructed under the project, with 11 interchanges, 10 rest areas, 10 Flyovers and 426 underpasses.

The project will be completed as part of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) with financial assistance provided by China.
