“Star Wars: The Force Awaken” becomes the highest-grossing movie of the year. The movie on the opening weekend at the US and Canadian box office earned $238 million in sales, shattering the Jurassic World record that earned $208.8 million earlier this year, Industry monitor Rentrak revealed on Sunday.
According to the Hollywood Reporters, the movie Star Wars has managed to earn an estimated $517 million on a global scale, whereas the movie stands on the second place after Jurassic World which earned $524.9 million worldwide in the first week of its release.
According to the reports, the movie on its first domestic screening on Thursday acquired the title of the highest-grossing domestic opening night by earning $57 million, whereas the Friday sales accounted to be $102.5 million.

The plot of the movie revolves around the good vs. evil 30 years on from “The Return of Jedi.” The movie turns out to be more adventurous and intrepid, where Rey (Daisy Ridley), a tough scavenger possess a top- secret map.
