Sony looks really excited regarding the Android Lollipop update; the eagerness is clear from its latest announcement of rolling out the update on its entire Z series.

Sony Z Series is the brand’s flagship series and is one of the best-selling one across markets. With Apple’s latest iPhone 6 and 6+ launch followed by last night’s iPad Air latest version launch, the pressure seems to be building up on the other competitors in the smartphone market.

Sony amongst the first of the competitors to counter back has quickly updated its flagship series to the latest software version, the phone’s that will officially be given the software update include:

  • Xperia Z
  • Xperia ZL
  • Xperia ZR
  • Xperia Tablet Z
  • Xperia Z1
  • Xperia Z1S
  • Xperia Z Ultra
  • Xperia Z1 Compact
  • Xperia Z2
  • Xperia Z2 Tablet
  • Xperia Z3
  • Xperia Z3v
  • Xperia Z3 Compact
  • Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact

Updates will be provided to Sony Z Ultra Google Play edition devices on preference following the rest of the devices which will be receiving the updates by 2015, including Xperia Z3 and Z2.

For the rest of Sony devices that did not make it to the list, unfortunately the devices won’t be receiving an official update to the latest Lollipop update.
