A raging debate concerning national anthem being aired in public places has taken Bollywood by storm. Apparently, Indian Supreme Court has directed the Centre to decide on the playing of the anthem in public places, including cinema halls.

And now the entertainment fraternity across the border is debating whether its right to play or NOT to play the national anthem in theaters before the beginning of movies.

Already, the heated argument has the whole tinsel town divided!

Even Adnan Sami jumped onto the bandwagon and added his two cents to the discussion.

But it is Sonu Nigam’s comments that have added fuel to the fire!

Clearly, he does not support the broadcast of the national anthem in theaters, claiming that it is a sign of disrespect

There are some people who are saying the national anthem should be there (in cinema halls), some say it should not be there. The national anthem is a prestigious and sensitive thing and I think it should not be played in certain places– in movie theatres or restaurants,

However, he has kickstarted a new controversy by paying his respect to the national anthem of Pakistan while talking on the subject!

“Even the national anthem of Pakistan is played and all Pakistanis are standing, I will also stand out of respect for that country and those people”

Apparently, Indians are not liking the idea of standing up for Pakistan’s national anthem and are bashing the singer for his opinions.

Sonu had found himself in the eye of a Twitter storm earlier this year, for his comments against the use of loudspeakers in religious places.
