The Sindh Government has declared a three-day holiday on account of Chehlum and Local Body elections in Karachi.

According to ARY news, educational institutions and government schools will stay closed from Thursday to Saturday i.e. December 3rd to December 5th

The reason declared for the holiday is basically ensuring safety on Chehlum of Imam Hussain (RA) and the LB elections in the city.

The initial holidays were announced for Thursday and Saturday on account of Chehlum and elections respectively; however the government decided to keep educational institutions closed on Friday as well to assure proper delivery of election material.

Several government employees and teachers have been given charge to return and preside officers for the Local Body polls on Saturday (5th December).

Police and rangers have also been put on high alert to ensure security on the two days. Intermediate exams, that were to be held tomorrow will now be held on 22nd January 2016, a private news channels reported.

In order to ensure the safety of all, stringent measures of security may be taken before Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) tomorrow as mobile services in around 53 cities are likely to remain suspended on the occasion.
